 EXTRAMURALS

Attached to this newsletter is a copy of the extramural programme. This programme will commence on Monday 16 January 2012 and continue through to Friday 9 March. All pupils from Grade 3-7 are encouraged to participate in at least two sessions per week.

In the case of rain during the course of the day, or in the afternoons, the following will apply: When it rains during the school day, a decision will be made during lunch, which is from 12:00 – 12:30pm. Parents are asked please not to phone the school before 12:30pm, and where time permits us to, a sms will be sent. If it is a match that has been cancelled, pupils will be notified and, depending on the number of pupils in the team, be allowed to phone home. If a practice is cancelled, pupils may go home if their parents arrive to fetch them. However, the teacher/s on duty will still supervise the remaining pupils in a classroom or alternative venue. Should it rain in the afternoon during a match or practice, the teacher/s in charge will make a decision and, again, pupils may go home if their parents arrive, or they will be supervised in a classroom till the end of practice.

Attached to this newsletter is also a copy of the Extra Cost Programme. These are activities provided by outside companies or people and a cost is involved. Please feel free to contact the various people as their contact numbers are provided. These activities should be over and above the school’s extramural activities.

 MUSIC THEORY LESSONS

Miss Drent will be running theory classes for all those taking an instrument. With a lesson devoted to theory, pupils can focus on the craft of playing their instrument in lessons and not have to spend some of that time on theory. Also, those wishing to write theory exams which is a requirement should you want to pursue practical exams, these classes are imperative. Lessons will be held as follows: Tuesdays 2pm (for half an hour): for Grade 1–3 pupils and Thursdays 3pm (for half an hour) for Grade 4-7 pupils; in the Music Room. ALL music pupils would benefit from these lessons. The classes will be held at a cost of R50 a lesson, payable per lesson. Bring a sharp pencil and an eraser!

 CHAIN OF VALUES

2012 sees us introducing three new values at KPS as part of our ongoing core value programme. Firstly we will be focusing on fairness, in the second term our focus will be on relationships and in the third term we will be looking at helpfulness. We trust that these values will be integrated into the children’s lives at school and at home. Watch this space for farther details…

 Mrs M. Wille

To all the Kyalami Prep families, may 2012 be a year that provides happiness, success and fulfilment.

Warm regards
