Soccer Swimming Horse Riding

At Kyalami Prep. we believe that our pupils should be encouraged to participate, be provided with an opportunity to develop varied skills and be given an opportunity to perform to their full potential. Sport, therefore, plays an important role in the education of Kyalami Prep. children.

In addition to developing an understanding of and interest in the various sports, and giving pupils the opportunity to develop related skills, participation in sporting activities teaches valuable life skills, such as teamwork, self-discipline and the importance of always giving of your best and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The activities offered by our school are many and varied. School sports include cricket, swimming, horse riding, cross-country, tennis, softball, netball, soccer and athletics.

Practices are divided into two sessions per afternoon, namely 14h00-15h00 and 15h00-16h00. This allows our pupils to take part in more than one sporting or cultural activity. Kyalami Prep. is involved in the co-ed private schools sporting leagues, and many inter-school fixtures are organised. In addition, various activities are offered on a private, extra-cost basis. These include ballet, modern dancing, golf and judo.

Sport for pupils in Grade 1 and 2 is included in their Integrated Day programme. A broad base of sporting skills and activities are included within their normal school day.

Numerous inter-house sporting events are organised throughout the year. These events are always the source of great enthusiasm and cheerful competition, with a maximum number of pupils being given the opportunity to contribute to their houses.

It is our hope that all our pupils will take full advantage of the many opportunities available to them at Kyalami Preparatory School, and that the skills and values that they develop in their early years will benefit them for many years to come.
